Graupel

As promised - Graupel.  Just in time for your Olympic knitting pleasure! I'm sure it's terribly conceited of me to say it, but I'm awfully pleased with these.  I know, I like them all (I'm hardly going to put out a pattern I don't like, now am I?), but these are really rather special. They start out with a lovely crisp ribbing.  It's a ridiculously simple 4 row repeat that you'll have memorized in no time at all.  Once you're done with that, you make a nice neat heel flap with a tiny little decoration down each side to keep [...]

Elfrida

As promised, new socks!  May I introduce Elfrida? You may have noticed that these don't follow the same naming convention as the rest of my socks.  That's because they are part of Penny Rose Yarns' Wicked Women sock club.  They are named for a real live wicked woman, and you can read about her on the socks' pattern page. Ruth, the mastermind behind Penny Rose Yarns, has been kind enough to let me release the pattern to everyone at the same time club members get it.  Alas, club members are the only ones who get the beautiful purple yarn I [...]

Sybaritic

The sun came out on Sunday, and The Boy was gracious enough to go outside on a little photo shoot.  I spent quite a lot of time sitting on the porch railing trying to keep my toes still, and he spent an equal amount of time cheerfully tramping through the (shamelessly overgrown and scandalously weed filled) flower beds.  I'm fairly sure we confirmed the neighbors' suspicions that we are a bit crazy.  I think it was worth it though, as I now have even more pictures of my feet. The pattern is up, and you likely know the drill by [...]

Bedizen

Bedizen is up! These are shamelessly frilly, fluffy, girly socks -- because sometimes that's exactly what you need.  It's hopeless to fight it.  The stitch pattern is unapologetically lacy and swirly.  It looks complicated, but it is actually surprisingly simple.  The pattern repeat is only 4 rows high, and it is very easy to memorize. The yarn is a delicious 50-50 merino alpaca blend by Dicentra Designs.  The alpaca adds the perfect touch of luxury.  If you're going to make a confection like these, you really should use a marvelous yarn, shouldn't you?  And at least one lucky reader can.  [...]

Calcareous

Calcareous is live, click here if you'd like to make yourself a pair, or to find out what I meant by yesterday's crack about my misspent youth. I also have the distinct pleasure of announcing that Sharon at Three Irish Girls has graciously agreed to donate a skein of the gorgeous Adorn Sock yarn I used to make these socks to one lucky reader! Now lately, I've had the marvelous experience of being contacted by several talented yarn dyers asking me to design patterns for them.  This has been (and continues to be) great fun, but that's not what happened [...]

Mystery Knit Along

The first part of my first mystery knit along pattern is up. It can be found here.  The discussion thread for the project is here.  Those are both Ravelry links.  The pattern is currently (and will likely remain) available only on Ravelry.  If you're not signed up yet, shame on you.  There's no longer a waiting list, so you have no excuse.  The next three parts of the pattern will come out over the next three weeks at roughly one week intervals. You'll note there is no picture in the pattern (hence the mystery bit).  The truth is, I don't [...]

Xanthophyll

Xanthophyll socks are live, and the pattern is here! To celebrate their release, the folks at Shalimar Yarns have kindly offered to donate a skein of the lovely Zoe Sock yarn I used to make them to one lucky reader. To have a chance to win, just go over to their website, find your favorite color of the Zoe Sock yarn, and leave the name of it in the comments.  You can leave other stuff too of course (I find reading comments strangely entertaining) but you have to leave a color name to win.  I'll leave the comments open until [...]

Colophon

I got overly ambitious and went ahead and released these early! These are simple and fun fingerless mitts designed to use up leftover bits of sock yarn.  The airy pattern makes the most of limited quantities of yarn, and the ribbing makes for a very stretchy finished product.  These are prefect for gift knitting! The pattern is for sale here, but until the end of the month (11:59 pm eastern time September 30th 2009) it will also be available for free if you buy another of my patterns!  To claim it, just buy another pattern and forward a copy of [...]

Pedigreed

You were patient.  You were astonishingly patient, and now your patience has been rewarded. Pedigreed has been tested to within an inch of its life and is now available! I feel I should warn you that this is not an easy pattern. It's not hard exactly, but it is certainly not a mindless knit. There are lots of twists and turns and you need to pay attention to both the text and the charts. Speaking of charts, this is a substantial pattern.  It is 13 pages long and has 8 charts, 6 of them full page charts.  There are several [...]
