Caesious, First Curls KAL

So, I think we should do a knitalong for the patterns in Curls, don't you?  And I'm a fan of doing things in order, so we'll start with the first pattern in the book, Caesious. Now, I'm also a big fan of relaxed knitalongs.  I am not a fan of stress or hard deadlines, so we're going to make this easy.  All the details for this one are over the KAL thread in my ravelry group.  But the gist is knit this pattern over the next two months, show it off and talk about it in that thread, and some time [...]

Caesious & Swans Island

I'm using the Curls preorder to introduce the patterns and yarns from the book. I'll be featuring a new pair each day. Most of the yarn companies have donated lovely prizes, so come back every day to see what's new!  Caesious in Washable Wool from Swans Island  I love this project.  The stitch pattern is marvelously simple (really the chart is tiny, you'll have it memorized about the second time you work it).  All the fun comes from a few cleverly placed extra wraps of yarn around the needle.  You don't have to do anything hard, and the result is [...]

Field Trip, Swans Island

So Wednesday morning's stop had unexpected yarny goodness.  The afternoon stop though, that had totally expected and planned for yarny goodness.  For you see, Wednesday afternoon we went to Swans Island. Luckily, they also make yarn.  Their yarn is all spun [...]

I Shall Refrain From the Obvious Pun

So I must be honest.  This this was not the sort of vacation that makes good blog fodder.  It might actually be the sort of vacation that looks boring to outside observers.  When we left the story last, we were headed out to Maine.  We'd arranged to stay at a perfect little cabin, and we had an ridiculous amount of fun playing house for a week (why is it that things that seem like chores at my actual house seem unreasonably entertaining when I'm playing house on vacation). The Boy and I had both been just the wee tiniest bit [...]
