Nutty
Here is your absolutely shameless reminder that it's starting to feel like fall for at least some of you, and that if you'd like to go on a little nature walk and collect some acorn caps, you can have a handful of these delightful little things finished up in an afternoon. Seriously, even if you do the knitted cap (instead of using a real acorn's cap), they are still by far the quickest project I've ever done. Now, there is a substantial risk you'll end up wanting to knit dozens of them, and will take a wee bit longer than [...]
There were always going to be lots
So general Q&A sort of stuff... Yes, it will be a pattern (really, unless I explicitly say otherwise, you can always assume it will be a pattern, since that's you know, how I keep the kittens in catnip)! As always, the way to hear about that is to be on the mailing list. Yes, there will be several different bottle shapes in the pattern (because look, some potions simply must be in round bottles and some in square and some in tall and some in short, I don't make the rules but you can bet I'll follow them when it [...]
Committed
In a previous post, I told you you really can not say I'm sloppy with my blocking. I'm going to go ahead and say that you also can not in all fairness say that I am insufficiently committed to the tiny thing photo shoots. That's me, at my favorite local tree stump (you know, the one in the graveyard, the one that's all covered in moss and toadstools) shortly after daybreak, with a basket of gourds and a pile of pointy hats (plus, you know, a teeny tiny little treat for the folks who signed up for the super-secret, one-time-only, [...]
Allow me to allay your concerns
Ok, did I make you wait long enough? I think I made you wait long enough. That wee pink blobbly? The one some folks were concerned was a bit more...ah...anatomical than my usual knits? Uh huh. Here we are. Not that it's not ridiculous (because a two inch tall knitted potion bottle is nothing if not ridiculous). But it is for sure not a body part.
Particular
There are a lot of things you can say about me. You can say I'm lazy (also pronounced "I put a high value on leisure time and so make a point to take a lot of it"). You can say I'm greedy (also pronounced "if I don't value my time and skill, why on earth would I expect anyone else to do so"). And you can say I like a lot of absurd nonsense (yeah, no, that one's pronounced pretty much exactly like that). But you damn well can not say that I am careless about how I block my [...]
And this one too
Alrighty, and there's that one sorted! Same general Q&A apply to this sweater as to the last one. You can scroll back a few posts (look for the one with the five columns of yellow stitches) to see what I said last time, but the short versions are no I really can't/won't show you the whole sweater all at once (for I am mean and want you to suffer, or possibly because taking a picture of a sweater is actually kinda hard), no I don't know if the stitch has a name (because seriously, this is just me doodling [...]
Uncharacteristic restraint
I...I regret to admit that another fit of nonsense has come upon me. This is, well, this is pretty much what I've come to expect at this point. But if I have to suffer through it, so do you. And I know from instagram that some of you will instantly assume that's something, um, let's say a bit biological. So before you let your mind wander too far, I'll show you another. And another. And I'll go ahead and say right up front that it is neither a critter nor a body part. However, I shall continue to demonstrate uncharacteristic [...]
Foxed
You didn't think I was going to leave the owls out there all alone did you? No...no we need some sweet little foxes to go with them. Because really, I'm pretty sure these foxes and owls are buddies and hang out and go on adventures together. I mean wouldn't you want to go on adventures with them? Just think of all the trouble you could get up to. Though perhaps what you're looking for is a more low key adventure. The sort where you visit Fawkes and Foxanne at their haberdashery and millinery shop and order an absolutely smashing new [...]
Calling it done
Alrighty, I think this is done (read, I really should stop spending so much time playing with it and do real work) and I know I am delighted with it. Now, let's see if I can answer a few questions/make a few plans. 1) Will I show you the whole sweater? Probably not. I don't do pictures of clothes on me, the dressforms I have are not the right size to show the sweater off well, and taking a picture of a sweater laid out flat that looks anything other than awful does not seem to be a skill I [...]
