Exception
I am *pretty* sure that the underside of a sea urchin shell is technically its butthole. And I generally do not show you close up pictures of butholes on here. But then again they're not usually either purple or fuzzy. So just this once I'll make an exception.
Pile
Ahem. I believe a few of you guessed correctly. And yes, there are going to be some tweaks, because the first time I knit something like this there are always some tweaks to be made. That's why I end up knitting a whole pile of the silly little things. But we are quite clearly headed towards a pile of sea urchins. Now, I might need to hit up the bead store...
With age comes…
I have officially reached 'staggering array of different glasses for different situations' years old. Which, quite frankly, sucks. However I have decided I shall console myself by making one of the wee pinchy pouches into a glasses case. As you can see, it is not yet actually big enough for this job, but it should be very shortly. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find my glasses so I can finish knitting it.
Stash dive
This should be out next week, and I wanted to run the yarn down with you so you can go on a stash dive/lys excursion as needed! So, I used three yarns for this (though you could get away with just two if you were so inclined). The dark purple at the brim and the gray on the hat body are two different colors of the same base. Further absurdities
Does this clarify matters? I rather suspect it does not. I rather suspect actually further obscures the eventual end point. How about I just say I'm confident we'll end up somewhere both absurd and amusing and invite you along for the ride. And yes, yes you may continue to register guesses about what it is! Though again, I'm not at all sure the additional image will make that any clearer. But it is absolutely delightful to see what sorts of things your brains dream up!
An Absurdity
An absurdity has begun. Go ahead and register your guesses now. The only hint I'll give is that it's been something I've been threatening to do for years, and my resolve finally weakened to the point where I have succumbed. These things happen.
Unquestionably
Yup, yup that is unquestionably both a different color and a more solid color (the second pic shows the hat pre-dunk, the yarn in the first pic is the leftovers from the skein I knit with). It is not, perhaps, the color I would have picked had I been given a magic wand and told to pick whatever I wanted. Nor is it precisely the color I was expecting. I have undoubtedly done this wrong. I do not care that I have done it wrong. Please do not tell me the ways in which I have done it wrong. The company that makes the dye has provided instructions over here. If you undertake a similar process, you should follow them. I for sure did...some of what they said. The hat is for sure...not the same color it was when I started. Wanna see...
Not a teabag
This...this is not a teabag. It was going to be! But there has been a change of plans. So the hat, even after blocking, even after staring at it from a distance while squinting, even after speaking to it as persuasively as possible, continued to be...not the best match of stitch pattern and yarn color. And I, even after many years of experience that should have taught me better, continue to be both alarmingly stubborn and highly susceptible to the sunk cost fallacy.
