Oh this needs to happen

Assortment
So, did I mention all the gray curls are done? Done and safely home with me and blocked? Sounds like it might just be time for a photo shoot! Now normally I'd be horribly nervous about having a photoshoot in Cleveland in December (as they generally happen outdoors, and outdoors has been known to be unpleasant around here that time of year), but this year our December weekends are apparently going to be down right balmy. Treasure Hunt
Jaala, lovely mastermind behind KnitCircus yarns, is having a little treasure hunt this weekend and was kind enough to let me come be a part of it. Snuggle
Excuse me, I'll just be over here curled up in this. I'm going to be blocking it tomorrow, at which point it will become all open and structured and tidy and formal. But wow if there isn't something special about it in its fresh-off-the-needles state. The yarn totally helps with that (it's Maia by SpaceCadet, and you should probably go get some now before I snag it all). If the sun ever comes out again it will look all glowy and bright, but for now it's a lovely moody thing and I adore it even more this way!
Progress
So the goal was to make progress on the mitts, and that totally happened. The first one is more or less done, and the second one is underway. I decided to hold off on the thumb of the first one until I see just how close of a squeak the yarn is going to be. There should be just enough, but if I need to make the thumb a row or two shorter, I'd rather know from the beginning that have to unweave my end and rip back. I’m totally staying in…
I hope you're all either accomplishing some serious shopping or tucked up cozy at home (that's the route I go, but I have it on good authority some folks really truly like the shopping dance, and I'm trying hard to believe it's true). Just a Little
While most of this week had been spent putting books in envelopes and setting them out for the mailman (which is lovely, thank you), every now and then I have to do something that doesn't involve an adhesive label. This fits the bill nicely. They're the mate for the lovely hat (a proper picture of which I still totally owe you), and I'm smitten. The cable is wide enough that it's best to have just the one, so the back is all ribbing (which allows for some very tidy thumb increases, which always make me happy). With any luck at [...]
Getting an Early Start
So...in the interest of not being murdered by my mailman, I'm going to go ahead and start shipping these a bit early. These are the ones going out today. There will be another round going out Tuesday and another on Wednesday too. Thursday is Thanksgiving in America, so the mail won't be picked up that day, but any remaining books should be on their way Friday. And of course, the eversion goes live tomorrow at noon, so you can cast on right away if you've got itchy fingers!
So That Was Fun!
Oh you guys are awesome! Launching a new book is always ridiculously scary (it seriously hits every one of my 'what if I throw a party and no one comes?' buttons). But you totally didn't let me down. I'll be keeping the mailman very busy next week, thank you! But somehow, in the shiny new book dance, I didn't properly show off the awesome socks that everyone who preorders Fine Things is getting.
