TNNA
I am typing this from my hotel room in Indianapolis. I'm using 'update the blog' as a fairly shameless excuse to delay leaving my quiet, private hotel room and start walking the noisy, bustling show floor at TNNA. I know I'll have a great time once I actually convince myself to go, but that convincing is taking an extra minute or two this morning. But, the show floor is where the yarn is, and my whole goal in being here is to find yarn for the next book (plus, you know, see all the lovely folks I only see at [...]
Lucent
Ok, important stuff first (but do read to the end, I've got yarn to give away). This is Lucent. It's a marvelous little hat and cuff set. It was a Woolen Rabbit club pattern back in the fall. Ever since it came out, I've had oodles of folks asking when it could be theirs. I don't blame them for being impatient (I've been eager to have this one out in the world too), and I'm delighted to say that the wait is over. The pattern is now available. I adore this set. The starburst is unreasonably fun to knit (and [...]
Soon…
So this happened. That's all the pieces and parts of KCC3, fresh from the printer. When you get a book made, you get lots and lots of packages with various iterations of the project. They all have jobs to do (check the color, make sure the pages are in the right order, make sure nothing goofy has happened). They're all fun to get, but the closer you get to the real thing, the better they are. This one's pretty darn close. All the pieces are there, they just need to be glued together and have the spiffy coating put on [...]
Under the big top, yarn and giveaway
I told you last time that I came home Friday to find a lovely little mood elevator hanging out on my front porch (yarn...fewer side effects than prozac, though it is rather habit forming). And, while I showed you Kitten Overlord Barry chilling in the box it came in, I didn't actually show you the yarn. Let's remedy that, shall we (click to embiggen)? That's a whole lot of yarny love, all from Jaala, mastermind the behind the Knit Circus empire (really, you should be listening to the podcast, it's fabulous). Over on the left you've got three fingering weight [...]
HMS Cardboard
A box came in the mail yesterday. A box of lovely yarn from Jaala over at Knit Circus. The timing was perfect, as it was a cold, gray, rainy afternoon and The Boy was out of town and my sinuses were giving me fits and the dishwasher was broken and being an adult was feeling hard. So a box of smooshy colorful yarn was the perfect remedy. And very soon, I will be a good blogger and tell you all about the yarn (and maybe even send some of it home with a few lucky souls). But today? Today I [...]
Amenable
The pattern for Amenable, the lovely, versatile socks I've been playing with for the last few months, is now up on ravelry. First things first, some pictures. Because I'm easily entertained and like pretty pictures. Now maybe a bit of that useful information stuff. Just in case that would come in handy. These socks are written for four gauges (6, 7, 8, and 9 stitches per inch), which means you can use fingering, dk, or sport weight yarn (they're shown here in Caper Sock and Caper Aran by String Theory). They're written in eight sizes, which means you'll be able [...]
Upcoming
I think I have a plan. Well no, I totally have a plan, I always have a plan. It's more like I have a plan that is far enough along to do something bold like mention it publicly. Let's do a little run down, shall we? First up will be the alarmingly versatile socks. They pretty much just need a name and a final once over (having been modeled and tested by a bunch of very gracious folks who don't let on at all when they think I'm being crazy). The plan is to put these out next week. The [...]
Conjugate
Shall we conjugate the verb snow? How about weep? Regardless of what mid-April snows do for one's state of mind (or one's sinuses), they do at least provide encouragement for knitting. The first mitt of the re-knit version of Adumbrate is done. I'm awfully fond of them. The thumb is unreasonably tidy. Alas this picture doesn't quite show it off in its full glory (Millicent won't bend her thumb in to show it off, but she has a long history of being a troublemaker). I'll do my best to find a more cooperative model for the proper photos.
Angles
Here is the same mitt from last time, just with its tendency to go all three three-pronged reigned in a bit by a handy glove form. This has actually grown a bit since the picture was taken. The thumb gusset is finished (and oh my goodness is it tidy, I love how they work on these). I'll most likely have a finished one to show you early next week. Next week will also likely see some sort of housekeeping/schedule clarifying post. I've got scads and scads of things coming up over the next few months (including, you know, new book), [...]
