Wanna Come Say Hi?
Sooooo, wanna visit? I'm having a little book party/trunk show for The Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet this weekend! I'll be at Knots (Knitting on the Square) in Chardon this Saturday from noon till 5pm. The store will have books (and I've even worked out a way to get you the e version if you buy the paper version in the store that day), I'll bring samples from the book, and there will be lots of chatting and knitting. I'd love it if you would come say hi!
Done
I love my job. I do. I fully realize how amazing it is that I get to do this for a living. I am absolutely stunned (and more than a little touched) by just how many of you have helped me be able to do this. My life rocks. That said, I would very much like not to go to the post office tomorrow. Maybe not the day after that either. You see this little basket? It's full of the receipts and customs forms I've gotten from the post office since Wednesday. Several of those receipts are a few inches [...]
Lest You Think I’d Stopped
So just because my dining room has been turned into shipping central (with an annex in my living room and another in my car) doesn't mean I've stopped knitting. Though to be fair, the knitting has been slowed down a tiny bit. If you lug hundreds of pounds of boxes around all day, turns out your arms are tired by the end of the day. But, there is a wee bit of knitting to show, see? This is the reincarnation of the little mistake I showed you the other day. I'm loving it, it's much better at this size. And, [...]
And Yet More Progress
This is oddly thrilling, it looks all official somehow. Though to be fair, it's become ever so slightly less thrilling as they've sat in my living room for four days. I'm one of those nuts who really wants a tidy house. I like everything put away. I clean off my desk at the end of every day so there's nothing but the computer, its gizmos, and a lamp. So the pile of boxes is driving me a wee bit batty. But, that little bit of batty is providing excellent motivation. Yesterday I took all of these to the post office. [...]
More Progress
The first third of the books are safely handed off to the post office and on their way to you! The second third are (or shortly will be) tucked up in envelopes, and they will get mailed tomorrow (I'm also turning off the pre-order discount tomorrow when I get home from the post office, just in case you were waiting). More go out on Friday. It's looking like I'll actually get through damn near all of these this week, and certainly will finish up any leftovers by early next week. Then I will sleep. And decline to affix any address [...]
Ready, Set, Pack
The books come tomorrow. These are some (some I tell you, some...not all, some) of the envelopes destined to bring the books to you. All envelopes are addressed. Many have had postage affixed. I have a feeling the next few days will be something of a blur. Do pardon me if it takes me a day or two to recover. Oh, and Douglas kitten back there in the window...he's one year old today. I'll give him some extra stinky cat food and lots of belly scritches for you.
Progress
This is absolute crap and has been thoroughly condemned and ruthlessly ripped. There may have been some sort of free form verse composed to celebrate its demise. Or maybe just some heartfelt profanity. And yet I've called this post progress. And I stand by this title. You see, there was a time, not that long ago, when I would have kept on knitting. Kept on knitting on this sock that is obviously too big for any human leg. That's because I would have somehow convinced myself that 'it will be smaller off the needles.' Note, I've also been known to [...]
The Sock Report
Do you remember the other day when I said I was feeling bad it had been a while since I released a pattern? I don't feel all that bad anymore. The always charming Janel Laidman (author of The Enchanted Sole) has a wonderful new project. It's a magazine with a focus on sock yarn. It's called The Sock Report, and it's marvelous. I'm so pleased to have a pattern in it! My pattern is but one of the yummy things you'll find in The Sock Report. There are 15 other patterns to keep it company, and each uses a different [...]
Updates
Sooooo, anyone wanna see what's sitting on my shelf? That looks suspiciously like a book. A real live physical book. The kind with ink and pages. The kind you can pick up and hold and sniff and give yourself a papercut with. And guys...it's likely immodest to say this, but wow does it look good. I love the e version too, but somehow the paper one always wins first place in my heart. So, what does this mean for the folks who have ordered the book? Well, the ones on the shelf are the author advance copies (the printer sends [...]
