Hope Springs Eternal
Look, it's a sock. One lone sock. All by itself. Rumpled and adrift. It's tough to be a sock around these parts lately. The rate at which you get made, to say nothing of the rate at which your mate may get made, leaves something to be desired. I'm off on a tiny bit of a trip, and this sock's mate is the only knitting I'm taking. Somehow I still don't think this will be enough. Everyone keep a good thought for the sock, let it know it's not alone, even if it doesn't yet have a partner.

Goal: Grab a picture of a sock to show the blog that you've not totally abandoned knitting. Plan of Action: Toss sock on blocker, set blocker on chair, snap picture. Actual set of Actions: Toss sock on blocker, set blocker on chair, prepare camera. Lest You Think I’d Stopped
So just because my dining room has been turned into shipping central (with an annex in my living room and another in my car) doesn't mean I've stopped knitting. Progress

Helper Cat, Part II
Having seen Levon's efforts to aid household order as in the previous post, Barry decided to get in the action too. He absolutely refused to leave the socks alone so I could get a picture of them. Instead, he sat beside them. He patted them with his paw. He laid on them. He generally made it clear that I was supposed to be taking a picture of him and not of something as inconsequential as a silly sock. Smitten
I'm rather taken with these. I worried at first that the yarn would be too busy for the pattern, but I think it's working out. The stitch pattern is sort of magical...super stretchy (looks much better once it's on a leg and under a bit more tension), works up quickly, and easy to just read your knitting and see what comes next. Now...would someone like to come finish them up for me so I can hurry up and wear them?
Warm and Spiky
Two bits of good news! First, the nice man from the gas company's repair service showed up bright and early Monday morning. He looked at our furnace (an admittedly elderly piece of machinery), took a panel off, wiggled a few wires, pushed a button, and boom...heat. Snow!
Apparently I've sunk to the level of using my blog to record the weather. This is doubtless shameful. But I've checked, and there are far more shameful things on the internet, so I'm letting it slide. Because people...it snowed yesterday. And I almost missed it. I...erm...like snow. Look, Knitting
Just in case you were worried I'd not been knitting, I've got a tiny reminder. I'm awfully pleased with these. They're orderly somehow, almost stately. I'll cast on the second one in a day or two, and might even finish them up this month (an unheard of level of knitting fidelity truth be told). I have a suspicion they'll look even cooler when I've got a pair of them and they're on real live feet.
