I think I've figured out what I like about holding mohair along with another yarn (cough, or at least one of the things...it would be silly to pretend there's only one).⁠ It gives you a much wider range of practical gauges. Let me explain.⁠ The base yarn here is Seven Sisters Arts Meridian, which is a lovely classic sock yarn. Smooth, merino/nylon mix, 400something yards in a skein. Delightful stuff. I would like someone to knit me a giant, snuggly sweater out of these two yarns held together. Seriously, they make a fabric that is downright slinky. Actually it's better than that. Look, we went a little overboard for easter when I was a kid. There were egg trees. As in, bring a branch (cough, or several branches) inside, put them in water and wait for them to flower. (Seriously, forcing some branches in the spring is the easiest and cheapest way to get a really showy flower arrangement that lasts for weeks, highly recommend!) I know. I know I really do. It doesn't look like much of anything just yet. But I promise, I know where this is going, and it will be the most unspeakably wearable hat in all the world. I mean to be fair, I did swatch a few other combos before I settled in on the one I'll be using.⁠ Two strands of the Silk Cloud (bottom) held together were a bit wispier than what I want for this project. And two strands of a different, slightly darker, alpaca fluff show were perfect (that's the swatch on top), but I didn't have enough of the yarn and couldn't find more (largely because I don't have any idea what yarn it is because the label has evaporated, so alas, I cannot tell you what it is no matter how [...]

Sometimes? Sometimes if you can't find just the right yarn you simply make it instead.⁠ I want the drape that you get with a skinny yarn, but the halo that you get from fuzzy yarn, and I think,if all goes according to plan, that these should be just about perfect together.⁠ The one on the bottom is Seven Sisters Art' Meridian in Quartzite, the one on the top is Shibui's Silk Cloud in Ash.⁠ ⁠ And together? Remember this nonsense from last year?
