Rummage
Look, sometimes you need a very particular yarn. Or rather, a very particular pair of yarns (thus upping the difficulty level considerably). So the only thing to do is dump out the stash. All of it. In one huge pile. Then dive in. I'm looking for some sort of floofy yarn and a smooth yarn to go with it. And I've got a few contenders. But of course the real test will come when I swatch them. Which is what happens next...
Temptation
The temptation to put a stamp and an address on one of these and see what happens if I actually try and mail is very nearly overwhelming. I'm sure it would actually end in heartbreak. There's no way at all that's a good idea. None. Zero. But my goodness it's tempting. Yes, the pattern will be out soon (probably early February...so you can make a pile for your valentine needs). Because I'm not going to keep you waiting long. I'm not a monster! [pextestim pex_attr_set="looking-for-this-pattern" pex_attr_autoplay="false"][/pextestim]
My beating heart…
You folks are relentless! Which is, I admit, rather flattering. But still...there were howls of dismay in my inbox this morning. Apparently some folks were awfully sad they couldn't start on these over the weekend. But don't worry, it's all better now! The pattern for Palpitation is back up. It was down for a little bit for the new year (just a reminder for anyone who missed it, I took everything down at the beginning of the year and I'm bringing things back out as I have time to update them). But I think you'll love the new version! I've [...]
More of this nonsense
Look, this happens around this time every year. And I should probably keep it quiet and not admit my shameful proclivities. But that's really not my style. Because really...cute, tiny nonsense like this hurts no one. And from what I can tell, there's a pretty decent chance it actually makes quite a few of you feel better. And I'd call that a win really. But just to keep things from getting boring, I decided to fancy these up a bit. Because why not! There will be questions...let's see what I can do for answers. The dark purple heart is duplicate [...]
It’s up to you…but I know what I’d do
One of the top three questions I get asked is some version of 'do I haaaaaaaaaaaave to block my knitting?' And the answer is nope, but I really think you should. I'm pretty sure this picture shows you why. The light purple envelope has been blocked. The dark purple one hasn't. Which one do you like better? Which one looks more like an envelope? Is it worth five minutes of your time to go from one to the other? Because it literally takes five minutes of active time (then some time to dry). I mean if you really, truly prefer [...]
Catchall
Want to start the new year off with an easy win? Something you can knit in an afternoon with some of those pretty leftovers from the scraps bin? And then use to impose order or bring a bit of joy to some corner of your space? Then I think Catchall is just what you're looking for. It's up on ravelry now, and it's 10% off with the code TIDY for the next few days. I'll admit, I worried this was going to be the project where a fair number of you did the internet equivalent of patting a small child [...]
And down!
The very first thing I did this morning was take down my ravelry shop. Here's what it looked like as of 6:03 this morning! Over the course of the year, I'll be adding things back into the shop. By the time you read this, the books will already be back. Over time, individual patterns will start to come back. Some will come back in the next few days, some not till later in the year, and a few will probably just stay gone indefinitely. Now, I'm going to try and answer a few questions folks may have, let me see [...]
Unable to resist
So you know those candles? The big ones in the pretty jars? The ones you see and think 'well gee after I burn the candle I'll be able to do something nifty with the container'? Then you burn the candle and shove the (waxy, sooty, possibly sticky depending on how it was labeled) jar in the back of the closet to ignore and then feel guilty about until you throw a whole stack of them all away in fit of pique the next time you deep clean wherever it is you store your secret junk? Yeah. Well I cleaned one [...]
Shiny
There are few things as deeply satisfying as pulling out the button jar, upending it on the table, and having a good root around for the perfect button. It's that perfect combination of thrifty (look how clever I am for having saved buttons, now I don't have to go buy them), crafty (behold, I have made a thing that requires a button, I have skills and can do neat things), and shiny (so. many. pretty. colors. so. much. sparkle). And something like this, where you just need One Single Perfect Button is extra fun, because there's no worry about whether [...]
