Forthwith & Posthaste

You know how I said I can occasionally be convinced to bring some of the retired patterns back to stay? Yeah, well, these have been on my mental list of patterns that really do deserve to come back for a while now. They were only out for a few months before I changed everything up (so they never really got their chance to shine). They're one of the most asked after retired patterns (I do try to keep track of what folks are asking about). And I am unspeakably proud of how that thumb goes together (no really, it's clever [...]

Loved to bits

Wanna make some tiny, gleeful, ridiculous bits of good cheer? Because I can totally help make that happen! The instructions for the wee tiny bits of joy (not quite confetti, not quite glitter, but somehow possessing the magic of both) are over here for anyone who wants them. There's a nifty little code for 50% off Palpitation or Dispatch (those are the knitted hearts and envelope in the photos) in there too, just in case you want to make some knitted bits of glee to go along with the shiny bits. But really, spend an hour or two playing with [...]

Questionable Nonsense

As promised, I've decided to replace our monthly housekeeping post (where I outlined what was coming & going on patreon and then distracted you with a recipe, which required me to clean my kitchen enough to take pictures, and which was therefore hard), with a monthly advice column/Q&A session (where I will also outline what is coming & going on patreon, but then I will answer a couple of questions from you folks, which just requires me to write about stuff I know and like, which is ever so much easier)! This month's questions are about how I started doing [...]

Pieces of glee

Right, so, I was getting the hearts out to take pictures of them because fine, whatever, seasonal promotion is part of my job, and I'm trying to get better at it. But then I realized what I actually want is an excuse to make more of these teeny tiny bits of colorful glee. So...anyone else out there want an excuse to make these? Because given even the slightest excuse, I'll totally take some pictures this weekend while I make more and stick the instructions up for everybody. Because really...I cannot be the only one who could use a colorful distraction [...]

Monthly Reminder

The new year seems like a good time for a little reminder. I am strongly pro abortion. If that's a problem for you, see yourself out. If you're still here, I'm so glad! It's wonderful to know how many of you share my feelings. Let me outline the three most important things I want to say about abortion: 1) Abortions are good Every month when I say this, someone clutches their pearls and asks how I can possibly say such a thing. The answer is that abortions are good in the same way that appendectomies or colonoscopies or chemotherapy are [...]

Anybody remember?

So...does anybody remember back when I used to knit...socks? Really rather nifty socks? Because I do. And I've been going through some of my things and feeling a bit nostalgic. And eyeing the remarkable piles of gorgeous sock yarn in my stash. And making plans. There might just be a scheme underway. Maybe. Possibly. If the enthusiasm holds out and nothing goes boom and I don't get distracted by a shiny object.

Wired

I am, for some perfectly good reason that nonetheless escapes me, completely enamored with the caps on these. They are just so deeply, deeply satisfying. I used a piece of wire in them, and it makes them Just So Delightfully Bendy. It means you can wiggle and shape the tips of the cap just so, and somehow that changes the whole mood of the thing.  I don't know why, I don't make the rules. But somehow...somehow it just really really does. The pattern is Preserves, and you've got through tomorrow to use the code SHORTCAKE for a little something off!

Not what it appears

Ok, so, talking more about mending the holey elbow! At first glance, it might appear that this is knit one purl one ribbing. And that would have been lovely, because knit one purl one ribbing is actually delightfully easy to duplicate stitch over.  But if you take a closer look, you'll see it's...not that. This is easiest to see if you look at the cuff, which is knit one purl one ribbing, and then look at the transition into the sleeve, which is...something else.  I'm pretty sure that 'something else' is the machine knit version of one color brioche (I [...]
