Monthly Reminder
Every month I write a post saying "abortions are good!" and send a donation to Aid Access to support their work providing abortion pills to people who need them. This month I also ordered some abortion pills both to have on hand in case I ever need them and so I could show you what buying them looks like (go here for the first part of that). Buying pills is a little different than buying most things online, and I wanted to make sure no one got scared off if the process seemed a little strange, so I figured I'd [...]
In or out?
Far be it from me to tell you how you should wear your hat. You are much better able than I to decide if any particular day is going to be easier with the points out or points in. I find both quite charming! Points in (below) does this delightful, almost sculptural thing with curves and shadows. Points out (above) makes it clear to everyone in range that I'm ok being a bit of a weirdo (in case the neon hair didn't do that already). Do you like one better than the other? Or will you swap them around as [...]
Decorum & Comportment
Are you feeling well behaved? Decorum & Comportment are back on both ravelry and payhip! Well, as patterns. Not so much as personal traits. I suspect we're all going to need to be significantly more indecorous over the coming months and years. But if we're going to get up to trouble, we can at least look cute while we're doing it. These should do the trick! The set has patterns for both the hat and mitts (they are only available as a set, not individually). You can take 15% off with the code TROUBLE for the first few days the [...]
One more
One more shot of the inside of The Hat That Was Not Destined For Greatness. I'll show you the outside here shortly (and eventually explain why the replacement for it is currently on the needles in a different yarn). But first? First we've got some old friends to welcome back.
Unexpected
Yup, more of the hat (the hat which you are not to get too attached to because as previously mentioned, this is a tale of woe and does not have a happy ending...yet). This is the inside/wrong side of the fabric. And if you'd shown it to me and asked me how to make a fabric like this, I would have just sort of blinked at you and said 'uuuuuuummmmmmmm...' and stared for a while. Because I for sure did not expect it to do this! But it is rather nifty...and we will talk about it more (and see the [...]
Reappearance
Everything is (as always barring unspeakable personal or general catastrophe) all set for these to make their reappearance early next week! If you want to help make them available to folks who might not have room in the budget for little luxuries right now, check out the Community Supported Pattern program. This will be the first set of patterns I've brought back since I took my patterns away last summer. In the past, patterns in sets like this were generally available either individually at the regular price or together at a discount. But making that happen meant multiple pattern files, [...]
Seized
I'm going to do something unusual and show you the inside of this for a few posts. Because when I show you the outside, a whole bunch of you will know what's going on. But I think just showing the inside might let me maintain an air of mystery for at least a bit longer. And I am a middle aged knitter who works alone, from home, in my pajamas. Opportunities for mystery are few and far between and must be seized whenever they present themselves.
Prototypes
Oh, oh this is getting ever closer to done. This is that little...needlebook? toolcase? (I'm not honestly sure they have an agreed upon name?) that I've been playing with for a bit. (You can watch a video of it where I open and close it and talk about what's going on over on instagram.) I'm far enough along in prototyping this that it was time to load it up and see what to tweak next. And it's not quite done just yet, but it's close enough that I can tell I'm going to love it! My general plan for this [...]
Incipient Heartbreak
This? This is a picture of incipient heartbreak and woe and a good hat gone bad. I tell you this at the outset so you don't get too invested. But since I had to go on this benighted adventure (and since I did all this knitting and took all these pictures before the problem with this project became apparent), I figure I might as well bring you along on it too. Because things *were* awfully promising at the start! Alas, that will change... P.S. The yarn turned out to be the source of the problems, so I won't be naming [...]
