Mercurial
Yes, I do realize the unspeakable absurdity of complaining about stockinette yesterday and then showing you a picture of...wait for it...yet more stockinette (now with three tiny lines of also stockinette just in a slightly different color). It will only get worse when I admit that I am rather enjoying what's happening here. Or rather, what's about to happen here. Because this is just about to do something that will delight me beyond all reason. I am nothing if not mercurial. Now if you'll excuse me, I need make this...do a thing.
Enamored
I remain unspeakably enamored with the whole turned hem thing. I mean, it's not enough to make me forego my longstanding feud with stockinette (why, why is a fabric that's so pretty to look at and so practical in projects so dead ass boring to knit? Does it not realize that this leaves me susceptible to distraction from literally any passing diversion? I've gotten distracted from stockinette by a falling leaf and then had to wander off and sit with the trees for a bit for some much needed stimulation. Yes it's noisy in my head, why do you ask?). [...]
Tidy
Yup. That's pleasantly tidy and organized and uniform. There's a chance I'll like it even better if I sort of...interlock...the spaces between the columns of embroidery. So I'll probably at least try that (what did I say about really really really liking to explore variations, this is why I really need to get the patreon up and running). So don't be surprised if you see that here shortly. And just wow oh wow is coloring on your knitting like this more fun than it has any right to be. It lets you do really really really mellow knitting (so. much. [...]
Distracted
Yeah yeah, I got distracted by the great stash reorganization project (yes, again, no, I don't know why, yes, I'm sure it will happen again, no, I do not repent my scandalous ways), which you can find on instagram should you be so inclined. But, while all that was going on, the hat was also getting finalized! I decided I liked the embroidery going all the way around the hat, a little more than half way up. And that I liked it all done with the orange. I'm rather taken with it!
More like it
Ooooh, now see, that's much better! But...um...I want it in a different place on the hat. So gimmie a moment and we'll see about making that happen next. Because I promise, it's going to be grand when it's done!
Misstep
Ok, so this is what I was trying to show you the other day when Miss Fizzy strolled by for a spot check. Which of course necessitated stopping to visit with her for a while (I don't make the rules, I just follow them). But the truth is...I'm not digging the blue. Which is fine! It's shockingly easy to yank it out and try something else. But I like to show you the occasional misstep. Because wow is it reassuring when I remember that not the only one who ever doesn't quite nail it on the first try. So I'm [...]
Surprise inspection
So I meant to show you the hat. And I will. Because it's lovely and that's sort of what I do. But since Miss Fizzy decided to come do a spot inspection while I was taking a photo, I thought I'd show you that instead. I suspect you don't mind at all. Even if she's not precisely in focus. She's cute enough to pull off blurry pretty darn well!
Impossible
You know those yarns where you're like 'oh, what a gorgeous color' and then your brain goes 'yeah, but wait, what the heck color even is that?' Because there are actually like seven different colors in there at least and it's just impossible to pin them down? Yeah...those are sort of secretly the best colors. And yeah, this is one of them. And my god does it knit up perfectly. It's by Ripples Crafts, it's their Quinag base in Sea Cave, and oh my is it yummy!
Braided
Ahem. That is why I left the hole at the top open a bit longer than usual. That needed to come out in the world and say hi. And yeah, it's totally optional, you don't have to do it if you don't want to. But given the choice between weaving in a dozen ends and doing a quick little braid? Well, I know which one sounds more fun! This pattern won't be out till the fall. There are a couple of reasons for that. One is that patterns that come out in the summer never sell well, and I'm [...]
