Antici…
...pation Ooooooooh, but it's worth it! God damn that's pretty & satisfying & orderly. It's one, small, tidy, fixed point in the ever widening maelstrom of ongoing horrors. And I love it. And there will be more (and also a pattern, but not till I'm done knitting them)!
Monthly Reminder
Yes things are bad. Yes it's appropriate to be furious and scared. And also, don't let those feelings take your power away. Because you have more power than they want you to think. You can get the things you need, right now, to take care of yourself and your community. [the text on the image reads: Monthly Reminder algo-dodging edition because if we use the word, they hide the post Fuck You, Make Me edition I’m seeing a little too much ‘all hope is lost’ & not enough ‘fuck them, we’re doing it anyway’...We don’t need [...]
So about that treat
Remember how I said there was a treat? A treat on the other end of the potions? Yeeeeeeeeeeah... A pretty, shiny yellow treat! More or less guaranteed to stave off at least five minutes of deepest midwinter despair through sheer, unadulterated, brute force good cheer. Because, come December, that will remind a person that the sun always comes back if you just wait long enough. Every time. But maybe a little faster if you remind it how to sparkle!
Potions
First there's what, I'm sorry, any respectable person simply must call a potion. There's really no other word. If you were not a little cups and jars and bottles full of flowers and sticks and acorn caps child, that's ok! You can still be a good and lovely person, and we can still be friends. But if you were a flowers and bottles child, then you see clearly that this is a potion. Then there's a bit of a thing with some twine. And some fabric. And maybe some more flowers just to be safe. Then it all goes in [...]
Takeout boxes…
So, this is what I've been up to for the last little while! That's stacks and stacks and stacks (and stacks) of bacon kits. I'm meeting up with Karen from Seven Sisters Arts tomorrow (Saturday, September 27) to pick up yarn at the Cashmere Goat yarn store in Camden Maine (which just so happens to be their five year anniversary party...which you can totally come to...just in case that's the sort of thing you might be in to). Which means boxes should start going in the mail next week! Insert practical information sidebar here to answer the questions someone just [...]
Wait for it…
Insert appropriate Hamilton reference here. But oh, oh, oh it's worth waiting for...
I know what my brain likes…
Ok look, my brain really really really likes radial symmetry. Like a lot. Like a whole lot. Like all the sparkly brain fizzes and sparkles levels of a lot. Which is why I'm quite confident this is going to be spectacular. No really, you know it, I know it, finishing this off is going to be satisfying. But not quite yet.
A little hand holding, part 3
And there we are, done with the knitting and ready to put everything together. Again, the idea here is not that these are proper patterns. Think of them more as what I'd be telling you to do if you sat down beside me and said 'oooooh, cute pencil, I want one' and then I proceeded to spend twenty minutes telling you how to make that happen. Which, honestly, is a danger. I'm notoriously bad at picking up on social cues. But at least here, the only way you're getting the whole excited infodump is if you seek it out. And I'm [...]
A little hand holding, part 2
Last time we did materials, this time we're talking about the actual knitting. Video walking you through it (plus a couple of charts to get you started) are up here on patreon should you be so inclined!
